BUSINESS OVERVIEW

Virtual Internet specialises in providing high availability hosting for websites and other managed services to large corporates and the public sector often in time critical applications.

Orbis advised and invested in the BIMBO of Virtual Internet in October 2006 with Steve Lamb taking the role of Chairman.

OUR ROLE

Orbis assisted the management team in driving value into the business by rationalising the cost structure and focussing on higher value services. After two years the company was generating good profit from recurring revenue streams and was well positioned for future growth. This was an opportune time to exit the business and benefit from the positive market dynamics.

Orbis led the sale process and, after contacting a select number of potential trade buyers for the business, UK2.net was chosen as the preferred purchaser.

Specifically, Orbis:

  • Identified and approached a number of UK buyers
  • Prepared an in-depth working capital and net debt analysis to maximise net proceeds at completion
  • Managed the preparation and flow of information throughout the due diligence process on behalf of the shareholders
  • Negotiated on price and terms to ensure the best deal for our client

The BIMBO and subsequent sale of Virtual Internet demonstrates Orbis’ successful business model of working alongside sector focussed operating partners such as Steve Lamb.
