Orbis press ahead after sale of fasteners company

BakFin Limited is the parent company of Baker & Finnemore Limited, a specialist manufacturer of “Starlock” push‐on fasteners.

The company is located in Birmingham and has been established for over one hundred years. The Starlock range is used in a wide range of applications across all manufacturing and assembly sectors.

Having acquired the company in 2006 through a management buy‐out, the shareholders were looking to retire from the business.

The advice given by Orbis, along with their approach to some of the complex issues of the transaction, certainly added significant value to the process and delivered an excellent result for the shareholders.

OUR ROLE

Orbis was appointed to advise the shareholders on the disposal, having worked with them on the original MBO. A full list of international potential buyers was compiled with the assistance of the Clairfield partnership, with approaches made to a number of parties.

BakFin was sold to Titgemeyer which is based in Osnabrück, Germany. It is a manufacturer of fasteners and other industrial products worldwide, through a network of subsidiaries and trading partners.

The acquisition increases their penetration in the UK market as well as providing a wider strategic benefit through improved vertical integration across the Titgemeyer Group.
