The Street Furniture market is a fragmented market with a large number of small suppliers. Ollerton was one of the largest businesses in the industry and was firmly established in the Top 10 street furniture suppliers specified on contracts. This meant that the premium buyers for the Business were not immediately obvious. In addition, the shareholders were not comfortable approaching some of the direct competitors of the Business. Our research team focused on finding potential buyers supplying complementary products to similar customers and markets. Marshalls plc was approached as a result. Ollerton’s street furniture range and brand enhanced the group’s original portfolio of products. In addition, Ollerton’s well-established relationships with various local authorities and architects enabled Marshalls to cross-sell a variety of other products into this important customer base.
